These capacitors replace the "leaky" caps on your main board that can cause your system to lock up, or just act strange.
Look on your main board (or other boards) for "Puffed Caps" they look a bit like "Jiffy Pop (tm)" popcorn container once it has been popped. Instead of a flat top, the capacitor will have a pushed up top and may be leaking its dielectric fluid.
