Very handy to have around the shop or the house. Heat shrink tubing has many uses, including insulating solder joints, repairing damaged wire insulation, bundling wires or cables, strain reliefs, make tip protectors for sharp or pointed tools, and many other uses for hobbies and crafts.
Best method for shinking is using a heat gun, but any heat source producing at least 260 Degree Fahrenheit (125 Degree Celsius) will do in a pinch.
