The RD500 is a locator for underground plastic water pipes. A transonde is used to vibrate the water as it passes through it and across an internal spring system sending a minute sound wave back along the pipe. This sound wave is then detected using the RD500 receiver hence locating the water pipe.

The Radiodetection RD500 locates all water pipes including PVC, Plastic, AC without tracer wires.
The RD500 is a patented valve that connects to the water supply piping and creates 5 psi pulses, then listen with the RD500 receiver, Stethophon, Aquaphon or other acoustic leak detector for the loudest position.

The RD500 is an effective solution for locating buried nonmetallic water pipes. It is simple to use and comprises of TranSonde transmitter and a hand held Receiver.
The TranSonde is fitted to a fire hydrant or tap and an internal oscillator reacts to water flow. This applies a distinct pressure wave to the water in the pipe, which is detected by a seismic sensor in the Receiver.
